Maddy Burt, a resident of Marco Island just off Naples, Florida, had announced her verbal commitment to the University of Arizona for 2020-21.

Burt is a junior at Naples’ St. John Neumann High School and a two-time NISCA All-American. She has been the runner-up in the 100 fly at the FHSAA Class 1A Championships in each of the last two seasons, touching in 54.62 as a junior and 53.62 as a sophomore. At the November state meet she also placed third in the 50 free, going 23.37.
Burt swims year-round for Swim Florida. She recently competed at the Florida Swimming LSC Spring Senior Championships where she won the 50 fly and 200 fly and was an A finalist in the 50/100 free, 100 breast and 100 fly. She left the meet with new PBs in the 100 free, 100 breast, and 200 fly. She swam the 50 free and 100/200 fly at Winter Juniors East in December, and the 100/200 fly at 2018 Summer Junior Nationals (although she was DQd in the 100, she went a PB of 2:19.15 in the 200).
Burt’s best times would have added points to the Wildcats’ tally at 2019 Pac-12 Championships in the 100 fly (B final) and 200 fly (B final).
