2016 NCAA Division III Championships – Day 1 Standings and Outlook

Division III Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships

In the women’s meet, Emory and Johns Hopkins in particular made the most of Day One’s finals. Emory improved in the 500 free and earned double bonus points with their medley relay win. They nearly erased Kenyon’s strong morning prelims session, in which the Ladies had made up 30% of their projected deficit to the Eagles. Johns Hopkins performed better than in prelims in both the 200 IM and medley relay. Otherwise, there were not many surprises on the first day.

Men’s Team Scores – Day One

Kenyon had an outstanding first final session, outscoring their prelims performances by 11 points. In contrast, Denison lost 10 points. We still have three days to go and the projected standings will flip flop several times before Saturday, but these two teams are locked in a battle that could wind up seeing a 1-point spread at the end. Therefore these over/unders are all the more significant.

Rowan improved its standing with 3-meter diving and the relay; otherwise Day One was much as expected.
