2013 World Championships Trials Tickets Go On Sale (Indy)

Tickets for the upcoming 2013 USA Swimming World Championship Trials went on sale this morning at 9 AM Eastern Time.

The IUPUI facility that will host the meet this summer (and is hosting NCAA’s right now) in Indianaplis, Indiana seats 4,700; that makes it a huge venue for a permanent-capacity-pool, but tickets for finals sessions at least will more-than-likely sell out.

For those who are unfamiliar with the IUPUI, it has seating on both sides (hard to get that many people jammed into a pool without it). The races will start on the end nearest the Diving Well on Ticketmaster’s interactive map. In other words, sections 7, 22,23,24,25 are on the starting end, sections 1,2,3,16,17,18 are on the turn end (except for the 50’s, of course, which are reversed).

The meet runs June 25th-29th (Tuesday-Saturday) this year, and ticket prices are actually quite reasonable. Including Ticketmaster’s fees, an all-session Student Ticket for non-reserved seating is $50.50, an all-session Adult Ticket for non-reserved seating is $61.00, and an all-session Reserved seat (the first 4 rows of the pool) costs only $71.50.

For 5 days’ worth of the most elite swimming in the country, that’s a pretty good deal. Though this isn’t a meet on nearly the same scale as last year’s Olympic Trials, at that meet for 7.5 days worth of swimming, tickets started at $325 and ran up to $1,000 per seat. Even if you compare the most expensive seats in Indy ($7.15 a session) to the cheapest seats in Omaha ($21.66 a session – for anyone who actually went to all 15 sessions), that’s roughly a 66% percent discount.

That should only increase the rush on sales for this meet, so purchase fast if you want a seat.

Tickets can be purchased via TicketMaster through this link.

The FINA World Aquatics Championships, which this meet is a qualifier for, will run from July 19th-August 4th in Barcelona, Spain. The pool swimming portion goes from June 28th until August 4th.
