In team battles that are expected to be as contentious as the SEC Championships, every swimmer in every A, B, or this year C final can have a huge impact on a team’s overall finish. With that in mind, let’s take a look at who ended up where after day 2′s prelims. For the sake of time, we’ll focus on the teams expected to be contending for top 3 finishes at this meet.
For those unfamiliar with the terminology: “Up” means a swimmer who is in the A-final, as those swimmers cannot fall lower than 8th barring a DQ. “Mid,” new for this year, is what we’ll call teams in the “B” final, who are bound from 9th-16th�places. “Down” will mean C-finalists, who are between 17th-24th place. Keep in mind only the A-final in diving is fought-out.
Diving today will be the men’s 3-meter competition; we’ll update the tables after its completion. The women’s tables are final.
Once again, it’s the Florida Gators men who have roared out with the must swimmers in the A-Finals tonight. Yesterday, that wasn’t enough to give he men a lead over Auburn, but with 16 overall scorers, it will be hard to keep Troy’s charges from the lead after night 3.
This is another big scoring day for Georgia, with their depth in the 200 free (5 A- finalists!) and 400 IM (4 A-Finalists!) tempered only slightly by their lack-thereof in the 100 fly, where an A-Final from Lauren Harrington was their only swimmer in the top-16. They will extend their lead tonight, before Florida, A&M, and Tennessee start to reel them back in on the 4th day that features the 200 fly, 100 back, and 100 breast.

The only reason that UF wasn’t in the lead after last night was because Cieslak (who won the 200 IM in 1:42.7) was DQed and they lost his points.
