On the first day of the Latvian National Championships Daryna Zevina won both the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle, she followed that up by taking the women’s 200 backstroke in a time of 2:10.85. The European Short Course Championships gold medalist was just off her season’s best of 2:10.37 which she posted at the Ukrainian National Championships in April.
Estonian Martti Aljand took his second event of the competition, winning the men’s 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:01.40, almost two full seconds ahead of the next finisher. Aljand had a tremendous weekend at the Bergen Swim Festival where he challenge Hungarian star Daniel Gyurta in the short course pool, he has continued to swim well posting a textile best in the 100. His previous best of 1:01.79 was swum in May of 2012, his lifetime best is a 1:00.56 which he swum at the 2009 World Championships in Rome.
Aljand’s Estonian teammate Ralf Tribuntsov also took his second gold of the weekend winning the men’s 100 butterfly in a time of 53.74. Tribuntsov’s time destroyed his lifetime best of 55.69 which he posted last year.

Kalnins actually set the NR in the 50 free in the prelims with a 22.91, but under-performed in the final with a 23.18 (second place).
He also set the NR in the 400 IM with a 4:25.68.
