WATCH: Elizabeth Beisel On A More “Chill” Trials

2016 CANADIAN OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC TRIALS

US Olympian Elizabeth Beisel kicked off her first race at the 2016 Canadian Olympic Trials with a 4:09.07 prelim swim in the 400m freestyle. Beisel got under the FINA ‘A’ standard and secured her spot as the top seed in the consolation final (due to her status as a foreign athlete she was not permitted in the championship final).

In finals, Beisel was right on the same mark going a 4:09.53, which was the second fastest swim of the evening only behind Canadian record holder Brittany MacLean.

Beisel swam the 400m IM today and will be headed to tonight’s consolation final.

For the remainder of the meet, Beisel has entered a heavy schedule of 200s. Beisel’s entered in the 200 freestyle, 200 IM, 200 breaststroke, and 200m backstroke.

Beisel is most famously an IM swimmer, also boasting a very impressive 200m backstroke. Her times here will give an indication of what kind of shape she’s in heading into the 2016 US Olympic Trials in Omaha in late June.

Beisel is one of several American athletes who travelled north to compete this weekend at the site of the 2015 Pan American Games.
