As we approach the second cluster of meets in the 2016 World Cup Series, FINA has released a video with highlights from the second stop in Berlin.
In Berlin, we saw Russian sprint star Vlad Morozov swim his way to a new 100 IM World Record for the second week in a row. Morozov first set the World Record with his 50.60 to win the race in Chartres. This time, he brought it down to a 50.30.
The USA’s Katie Meili was also setting records, breaking 2 American Records in as many days. First, she set the mark in the 100 breast to win the event in 1:02.92. She followed that up with another American Record in the 100 IM, where she posted a 58.02 for 2nd place behind Hungarian Iron Lady Katinka Hosszu, who continued to lead the overall points standings through this meet.
The next cluster of meets begins in Beijing this week, as swimmers travel to the National Aquatics Center to race on September 30th and October 1st. FINA will be live streaming the finals only of the event on FINATv, which you can access here. Keep checking in with SwimSwam throughout the meet to get recaps of the action.
