Men’s Recap

Staten Island, NY- The Wagner men’s swimming & diving team won its first-ever meet on Saturday, defeating Staten Island (CSI) over 16 events, 139-102.

The Seahawks 200 Yard Medley team made up of Karl LovettTristan LeeMatt Dingess, and Bobby Blewett finished in first place, hitting the wall at 1:43.28.

Dingess went on to post another first-place finish with a time of 54.49 in the 100 Yard Butterfly. The Tacoma, WA native secured his third first-place finish of the day in the 50 Yard Butterfly, posting a time of 25.72.

The Green & White dominated the 50 Yard freestyle, with Jack Leighton finishing in first place with a time of 22.24. Teammates Blewett and Dylan Egan finished in second and third place in the event, respectively. Leighton took first in another race, posting a 49.61 in the 100 Yard Freestyle event.

Nathan Seaney competed in the 1 Meter Diving event, finishing with a score of 142.75 and earning the team nine points. The Bakersfield, CA native also dove in the 3 Meter Diving event, posting a score of 144.90, good for another nine points.

Wagner finished the meet strong, with Kristian Stanczewski posting a first-place finish in the 100 Yard Individual Medley, hitting the wall at 58.50. In the final event of the day, the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team finished in first place with a time of 1:32.52.

The Seahawks are back in the pool next Friday, January 21 when they travel to New Jersey to face Saint Peter’s University at 3:00 p.m.

Women’s Recap

Staten Island, NY- The Wagner women’s swimming & diving team defeated Staten Island (CSI) 98-83 over 16 events on Saturday at the Sports & Recreation Center on Staten Island.

Taylor Marjamaa touched the wall at 10:54.66 in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, finishing in first place. Rachel Sacerdote also had a first-place finish, hitting the wall at 2:09.87 in the 200 Yard Freestyle.

The Seahawks had a pair of relay teams sweep the 200 Yard Medley Relay, led by first place finishers Annie JencovaEllie EastwoodKate Wilkerson, and Madeleine Delore. The foursome hit the wall at 1:51.09 in the event.

The Green & White also showed dominance in the 50 Yard Backstroke. Wagner took first to fourth place in the event. Eastwood won the race with a time of 31.97, followed by Bree Anderson at 32.65, Maile Mora at 33.64, and Delore at 34.21.

The Seahawks saw a similar showing in the 50 Yard Freestyle. Jencova took first place with a time of 25.36. Teammates Mary Tsianaka and Delore finished second and third in the event, respectively.

With Saturday’s victory, The Green & White move to 4-1 on the season. Wagner is back in the pool next Friday, January 21 when the Seahawks head to New Jersey to swim against Saint Peter’s University at 3:00 p.m.

Staten Island, NY – The College of Staten Island Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving hosted Wagner College at the tank Saturday morning. The men showed promise however didn’t pull off the win they fell by a score of 139-102. The women improved from their last performance although couldn’t pull off the victory, they lost a score of 98-83. The Dolphins will be on the road on Thursday to take on USMMA & Kean University, USMMA will play host.

INSIDE THE MEET

Charles Cusumano took first place in the 1000 yard Freestyle by a time of 10:46.75. The 100-yard Freestyle event first place went to David Poggoli, the 50-yard backstroke event went to Max Kleyer and the 50-yard Breat

stroke went to Michael Stora. For the Women, Jessica Johnson took the 50 Yard Butterfly event by a time of 28.78 and Kathleen Bridgman took first place in the 100-Yard IM.

DOLPHINS OF THE MEET

The Dolphins of the meet will go to Charles Cusumano and Jessica Johnson. Charles took first place in the 1000 yard-Freestyle and Jessica’s took first place in 50 Yard Bufferfly Event.
