USC’s Baylor Weber Named MPSF Women’s Water Polo Player of the Year (Postseason Awards)

2023 MPSF Player of the Year

USC redshirt-senior Bayley Weber (Los Alamitos, CA/Los Alamitos HS) scored in 22 of 26 regular season games this year with 64 goals to lead the MPSF. She has also collected 17 assists to rank third in the conference with 81 points. She has 19 multiple-goal outings, scoring at least three goals in 16 games and four goals in seven contests. Weber was a three-time conference player of the week this year. She was especially impressive in MPSF games, which included scoring two of her four goals in the fourth quarter to help snap No. 1 Stanford’s 27-game win streak (Apr. 8). She also scored four goals and drew a season-high three exclusions in an MPSF road win at No. 3 California (Mar. 11). Weber enters the postseason with 207 career goals, ranked ninth in program history and one goal away from the MPSF’s all-time top-40. Weber, a four-time All-MPSF selection, represents USC’s conference-high 13th MPSF Player of the Year award (Maud Megens-2021, Amanda Longan-2018, Stephania Haralabidis-2016, Monica Vavic-2013, Tumua Anae-2010, Kami Craig-2009, Moriah Van Norman-2004, Sofia Konoukh-2001 & 02; Aniko Pelle-2000, Bernice Orwig-1997 & 99).

2023 MPSF Newcomer of the Year

Stanford freshman Jenna Flynn (San Jose, CA/Leland HS) is one of two freshmen to earn an All-MPSF honor this year. Flynn enters the postseason ranked fifth in the conference in goals (49), and along with 14 assists, eighth in points (63). She has 13 multiple-goal outings (including in five of the six MPSF games), with 11 hat tricks across Stanford’s 19 games. Flynn was a three-time MPSF Newcomer of the Week. She helped lock up the MPSF’s two seed with two goals and one assist in a 16-9 win at No. 6 California in the regular season finale (Apr. 22). In both games against No. 1 USC, she recorded a career and team-high five goals. Flynn is Stanford’s conference record ninth MPSF Newcomer of the Year recipient (Jewel Roemer-2021, Ryann Neushul-2019, Kat Klass-2016, Jordan Raney-2015, Kiley Neushul-2012, Melissa Seidemann-2009, Amber Oland-2008, Lauren Silver-2006).

2023 MPSF Coach of the Year

USC head coach Marko Pintaric led the Trojans to a 25-1 (.962) regular season and a third-straight top seed in the MPSF Tournament. The Trojans ran the table in the MPSF schedule, winning all six games for the second-straight year. USC has a 6-1 record against nationally-ranked top-five opponents this year, in addition to three other wins over the top-10. USC held its opponents to single-digit goals in 21 of 26 regular season games, while scoring 10 or more in all 26. The Trojans placed five players on this year’s All-MPSF teams, including three on the first team which is a conference-high since 2019. Pintaric holds a career record of 79-7 (.919), and in his four years at the helm, earns his third-straight coach of the year honor.
