US Junior National Team Member Jackson Carlile Commits To Indiana for 2021

Jackson Carlile, a high school junior that swims year-round for the Fishers Area Swimming Tigers in Fishers, Indiana, will elect to stay in-state with his verbal commitment to swim for Indiana University beginning in the fall of 2021. A distance freestyle specialist, Carlile made the US Junior National Team in the 10k open water race after finishing in 6^th place at the 2019 USA Swimming 10k Open Water Championships.

At Speedo Junior Nationals over the summer, Carlile took 13^th place in the 400 LCM freestyle (3:59.18), 12^th place in the 800 LCM freestyle (8:16.03), and 17^th place in the 1500 LCM freestyle (15:50.66). At the Indiana Age Group Short Course Championships in March, he pulled off the “distance sweep”, winning the 200/500/1000/1650 yard freestyles (1:44.94, 4:39.92, 9:34.03, 15:56.82 respectively).

When Carlile arrives in Bloomington in the fall of 2021, distance aces Mikey Calvillo and Michael Brinegar will have one and two years of eligibility remaining, respectively, with Brinegar taking an Olympic redshirt this year. He is the first distance swimmer to commit to Indiana’s class of 2025 that includes Sean Swift, Nichita Bortnicov, Lucas Piunti, Henry Bethel, #10 Luke Barr, and #4 Joshua Matheny.
