INDIANAPOLIS – UIC freshman Jan Komorowski and Milwaukee freshman Antoni Haupt both started their college careers on a high note, winning Nike #HLSD Swimmer of the Week honors with a combined four first place finishes. In diving, it was the upperclassmen’s time to shine, as UIC senior Felix LaFortune and fellow senior Cydney Liebenberg won all their events.

Jan Komorowski | UIC | Freshman | Lodz, Poland
Komorowski won two events in his collegiate debut. In UIC’s dual meet against Milwaukee, he set the tone early in the meet with a dominating win in the 1000 free, finishing 26 seconds ahead of the second place swimmer. His time would have been a top-five result based on the 2019-20 Horizon League top times. Later in the meet, he took first in the 500 by 12 seconds. He also anchored UIC’s 400 free relay team, which came in second.

Antoni Haupt | Milwaukee | Freshman | Minnetonka, Minn.
In her first collegiate meet, freshman Antoni Haupt claimed first-place finishes in the 500 freestyle (5:13.31) and 1,000 freestyle (10:38.10), helping Milwaukee to a 147-64 win over UIC. She won the 1,000 by over seven seconds and the 500 by almost 10 seconds.

Felix LaFortune | UIC | Senior | Gatineau, Canada
LaFortune picked up where he left off last season, sweeping both diving events in UIC’s dual meet against Milwaukee. The double defending conference champion was in midseason form on the 1-meter board, scoring 320.40. He then set a career best on the 3-meter board with a mark of 363.30.
2021 Nike® #HLSD Women’s Diver of the Week
Cydney Liebenberg | UIC | Senior | Pretoria, South Africa
Liebenberg was a double winner in UIC’s season-opening meet against Milwaukee. She scored 305.48 on the 3-meter board and 294.60 on the 1-meter board. She scored important points for the Flames as the team’s only female diver entered in the meet. It was her seventh straight sweep of both events in conference dual meets dating to last season.
