LA JOLLA, Calif.—The UC San Diego women’s swimming and diving team earned a 158.5-127.5 victory over UC Davis on Saturday afternoon at Canyonview Aquatic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The women swept four events on the day including the 1650-, 500- and 200-yard freestyle, and the 100-yard breaststroke.

The Tritons took first and second in the 400-yard medley relay to start the day, with times of 3:50.71 and 3:52.18. The top squad consisted of Alana BarthelMiranda RennerLexi DePaco and Tina Reuter, while the second-place team was Mackenzie LeeKatja PavicevicJordan Phillips and Sophie Francis.

Several Tritons recorded B-cut times, including both Juli Arzave (17:06.52) and Ellie Whitney (17:29.38) in the 1650-yard freestyle. Phillips placed first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.51 and Pavicevic earned first-place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:20.58.

Arzave took first in both of her events, winning the 500-yard freestyle (5:01.41), while Pavicevic also placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.40).

Barthel added to her win total for the day with a first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.77), while DePaco took the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.89). Ciara Franke earned victories in the 200- and 100-yard freestyle (1:53.68 and 52.02) and Brittney Miles took the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.04.

UP NEXT
The Triton men and women will compete against UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. (PT) to wrap up a stretch of three-straight meets at Canyonview Aquatic Center.

La Jolla, Calif. – Facing their first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation competition of the season, UC Davis fell 158.5-127.5 to UC San Diego in La Jolla on Saturday afternoon.

The Aggies swept the dives behind senior Taylor Hornberger but were held out of an individual event win in the pool for the bulk of the meet.

UC Davis got a trio of second place finishes from junior Sophia Sebastian in the 200 Fly (2:07.01), junior Dani Fasan in the 100 Free (52.74), and freshman Elizabeth Ramirez in the 200 Breast (2:25.41).

UC Davis’ mid-season finale in the pool will come Nov. 18-20 at the Dixie State Trailblazer Invite in Utah while the divers head to the Northern Arizona Lumberjack Diving Invite that same weekend.
