HOW IT HAPPENED

Kyle Brill’s time in St. George has seen him take at least one event on each day of competition. He wrapped up the tournament with a win in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:55.99. This is the third fastest time in program history. Samantha Banos has been busy breaking records too. She swam a winning 1:58.39 in the 200-yard butterfly which is the fifth fastest any Blue and Gold swimmer has swam.

Hazel Derr added her name to the 200-yard backstroke top ten yet again. Her 1:58.32 ties for fifth. Taber daCosta’s excellence in the 1650-yard freestyle today also earned his name a spot in the record book. 15:17.08 is good for seventh in Gaucho history. Austin Sparrow swam the school’s third fastest recorded time in the 100-yard freestyle (43.22).

FROM HEAD COACH JACLYN ROSEN

“We showed a lot of grit at his meet,” said Rosen. “On the men’s side we held a strong lead from start to finish. As for the women, we fought hard for every single point. It was incredible to see swimmers pushing until the very end. We grew as a team and now our focus shifts to prepping for The Big West Championships.”
