On the second and final day of the Polish Grand Prix event in Opole, rising star Tomasz Polewka took down a national record in the 50 backstroke, going 25.12.
That time chopped a tenth off of Bartosz Kizierowski‘s former mark of 25.27. Polewka absolutely destroyed the field on the way to that record, winning by 1.2 seconds over second-place.
That time also moves Polewka just inside our world top 10 rankings for 2014, as his time sits 10th by .01.

You can find full results of the meet here. In other day 2 action, Aleksandra Urbanczyk took a pair of wins, with the fastest 50 free (25.70) and 50 back (28.73) times for women. Second to Urbanczyk in the backstroke was Alicja Tchorz, who was also in pursuit of her second win after taking the 400 IM in 4:50.74 earlier on.
For the men, both the 50 free and 200 breast came down to touchouts. Filip Wypych eked out Szymon Dymerski for the sprint free race 23.82 to 23.86, while Mikolaj Machnik won the 200 breast by two tenths over Dawid Szulich.
