Three-Sport Athlete Sam Bork Verbals to Florida State for 2022

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Sam Bork of the Mid-Wisconsin Wave Makers has verbally committed to Florida State for fall 2022. He’s a junior at Appleton North High School.

I chose FSU because of the incredible atmosphere that is created by the hard workers there and more importantly because the staff really stood out to me like none other during my recruiting process. They show that they care about you as not just an athlete but about you as a person and want what’s best for you. That feeling of belonging only grew talking to the swimmers and it greatly impacted my decision of starting my next chapter in the sunshine state!

TOP TIMES (SCY)

  • 50 free – 20.43
  • 100 free – 46.34
  • 200 free – 1:40.92
  • 100 back – 50.09
  • 100 fly – 48.43
  • 200 IM – 1:51.63

Bork has been a three-sport athlete in high school, competing in swimming, football and track. He tells SwimSwam he’s dropping football, though, to pursue swimming.

“Lifting is also one of my favorite ways to train outside the pool,” he added. “I’m a person who loves being outside and having the opportunity [at FSU] to swim outdoors every day made my decision even better, especially after swimming indoors for all but two months of the year.”

At an intrasquad meet in August 2020, post-quarantine lockdown, Bork hit lifetime bests in the 200 free, 100 back, 100 fly and 100 breast (57.06). He was a finalist at the 2019 Speedo Winter Junior Championships – West, finishing 17th overall with a lifetime best 20.43.

Given his recent commitment to swimming, Bork may have a lot of potential for the Seminoles. He’s strong at sprint fly, back and free; junior Max McCusker leads FSU in the fly (45.9 last year).

In FSU’s class of 2026, Bork joins Top 20 HM Jaydon Cunningham, Slovenia’s Jaka Pušnik, Lithuania’s Jokūbas Keblys and Turkey’s Utku Kurtdere.
