Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Dallas Mustangs’ Amie Perna is set to join Auburn in the fall of 2024. Perna also competes for Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas. At the TAPPS Division 1 State Championship in February, Perna won the girls 100 back and finished 2nd in the 200 free.

“I chose Auburn because of the family that is formed there. I was looking for a place where I could have the support from teammates, coaches, professors, etc. And I found that at Auburn. It is more than just support it is a family. Not only that, you are set up to work hard for the best future. When I first stepped foot on campus it felt like I was at home. Everyone I met felt like I have knew them for years and we quickly became friends. I knew that Auburn was where I wanted to continue both my academic and athletic future.” – Amie Perna

Perna is primarily a backstroker, with some very solid freestyle speed to boot. At the 2022 Winter Junior Championship West, Perna clocked her career best in the 200 back, 1:56.90, which was good for an 11th place finish.

Amie Perna‘s Personal Best Times (Yards):

  • 50 Free – 23.52
  • 100 Free – 51.51
  • 200 Free – 1:51.60
  • 50 Back – 25.92
  • 100 Back – 53.93
  • 200 Back – 1:56.90

Personal Bests (Long Course Meters):

  • 50 Free – 27.26
  • 100 Free – 58.90
  • 200 Free – 2:08.34
  • 50 Back – 30.73
  • 100 Back – 1:05.23
  • 200 Back – 2:20.28

Perna is set to add to Auburn’s backstroke depth. Of course, Perna isn’t arriving at Auburn until next fall, so there will be quite a bit of roster turn over by that point, however, her personal bests in both the 100 back and 200 back would have been 7th on Auburn’s roster last season (2022-23).

Auburn’s women’s team finished 7th out of 12 teams at the 2023 SEC Championships, while the men’s team took home a 2nd place finish. The Tigers went on to take 30th at the 2023 Women’s NCAA Championships.

Perna joins what is already a huge 2024 recruiting class for Auburn. Audrey Olen, Georgia Colborn, Carly Bixby, Izzy Iwasyk, Audrey Crawford, Ashlyn Morr, Kate Murray, Bella Ekk, Annika Finzen, Sarah Bush, Olivia Stewart, Taylor Grimley, and Avery Mehok in the class of 2024.
