Ryan Murphy lowered his own meet record in the men’s 200 back on day 2 of the Speedo Grand Challenge.
Zoie Hartman also blasted an incredible 1:55.95 to win the 200 IM, although that time was still a ways off Ella Eastin’s meet record of 1:54.31.
There were also 4 other events in which the top finisher came within half a second of the meet record going into Saturday’s finals session.

Alexei Sancov, Zoie Hartman, and Anicka Delgado each lead the field in two events heading into next weekend’s California State meet.
Santa Margarita senior and Harvard commit Samantha Shelton tackled a 200 free/200 IM double, with the front end of that producing a lifetime best swim.

Anicka Delgado took the top seed in two events at CIF-SS prelims in Riverside.
Sophomore Ella Ristic came up big for Santa Margarita, claiming the 200 free (1:46.98) and the 100 free (50.05).
Chase Kalisz will go after his own Pro Swim Series Record in the 400 IM, while teammates Ryan Murphy and Jacob Pebley will battle it out in the 200 back.
One of the things to look out for this morning is Olympic champion Allison Schmitt’s return to competition. She’ll be swimming in heat 9 of the 200 free.
Samantha Shelton was the only swimmer under 2:00 in the 200IM on night two of the 2018 Carlsbad Sectional Championships.
