Richard Nagy is a Slovakian distance freestyle and medley specialist. International Career Nagy has been a regular on the Slovakian team since 2008 when he made his first appearance for his country at the European Junior Championships finishing 6th in the 400 meter individual medley. In 2011 he made his first senior appearance at the World Cup in Berlin and the European Short Course Championships, swimming the 1,500 meter freestyle at both events. He made his World Championship debut in Barcelona in 2013. At 20 years old he finished 19th, 20th and 21st in the 800, 1,500 and 400 meter freestyle. 2015 World Championships At his second World Championships, Nagy finished 13th in the 1,500 meter freestyle in 15:04.03, 18th in the 800 meter freestyle in 7:55.31 and 32nd in the 400 meter freestyle in 3:51.63 - all of which were best times. His best finish came in the 400 meter individual medley when he placed 12th in 4:16.37. 2016 Rio Olympic Games Just after winning his first international medal, a silver in the 400 meter individual medley at the European Championships, Nagy made his Olympic debut in Rio.
