CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois swimmers Samantha Stratford and Megan Vuong will represent the Orange and Blue at the 2016 Canadian Olympic Trials held April 5-10 at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre in Toronto. The pair represents the 10th and 11th swimmers that head coach Sue Novitsky has helped qualify for Olympic Trials during her tenure at Illinois.
“It is a great honor to be able to compete for a chance to represent your country,” shared Novitsky. “I am very proud of the effort that Megan and Sam have put in the pool and weight room this year. They have a great attitude, are committed, focused and able to make the necessary choices to keep reaching for that next level. Megan and Sam have been top performers on the team all year and I am very excited for them to have this opportunity to race against the best in Canada at their Olympic Trials.”
Stratford, a Cambridge, Ontario, native, has qualified to compete in the 100-meter butterfly, 200-meter individual medley and 400-meter individual medley. Vuong hails from Mississauga, Ontario, and will compete in the 100- and 200-meter butterfly events.
