Ford Story (TCU), Kasey Roberts (Iowa State) and Elyse Brouillette (Iowa State) have garnered the first Big 12 Swimming and Diving honors of 2016. Story and Roberts earned the men’s and women’s swimming awards respectively, while Brouillette was honored with the women’s diving award.
The accolade marks both Story’s and Roberts’ first career weekly recognition and Brouillette’s fourth. The Cyclone senior has taken the diving accomplishment in back-to-back weeks.
MEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Ford Story, TCU, Sr., Houston, Texas
Ford Story earned an Olympic qualifying trials cut time in the 100-meter breaststroke at the KMSC Pro-Am Classic in Lewisville, Texas. Story finished the long-course race in 1:03.46, .23 seconds better than the trials cut time of 1:03.69.
WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Kasey Roberts, Iowa State, So., St. Michael, Minn.
Roberts earned a trio of top-three finishes in a dual against Iowa, swimming the second-fastest breaststroke split (28.32) in the 200M Rto help the Cyclones to a second-place finish in the event. Roberts swam a 2:15.37 in the 200M breaststroke, the fifth-best time in Iowa State history, while her relay time clocked in as the sixth-best. The sophomore recorded three second-place finishes and one third-place finish in the meet.
WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Elyse Brouillette, Iowa State, Sr., Omaha, Neb.
Brouillette led the Cyclones off the board, with a first-place finish on the 1-meter dive, and a third-place finish on the 3-meter dive. The senior shattered a personal-best on the 3-meter boars with 312.83, while tallying a 267.22 on the 1-meter dive.
