ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — The St. Bonaventure women’s swimming and diving team put up a dominating team performance in their final home meet of the season. With four podium sweeps, the Bonnies defeated Canisius, 187-96.
Prior to the day’s swimming events, the team honored its six senior members: Silvana Cabrera, Madelyn Green, Paige Kasemsuwannakaeth, Kylie McKee, Maggie Metcalf, and Amy O’Rourke.
The Brown and White’s four podium sweeps came in the 50-freestyle, 100-freestyle, 200-backstroke, and 200-IM.
In the 50-freestyle, juniors Halle Myers (23.59) and Ellie Kraus (24.06) finished first and second, followed by senior Amy O’Rourke (24.46).
The same three swept the podium in the 100-freestyle with Kraus (52.15) coming out on top and Myers (52.80) and O’Rourke (53.31) following.
The 200-backstroke was led by sophomore Daciana Colon who posted a time of 2:09.96. Sydney Londergan (2:12.13) and Maggie Holst (2:12.29) finished second and third with just 0.16 seconds separating them.
The Bonnies continued their domination in the 200-IM with freshmen Anna Bojana Forjan (2:08.60) and Londergan (2:16.58) tallying first and third-place finishes respectively. Between them was senior Silvana Cabrera (2:11.09).
In relay action, both St. Bonaventure A-teams collected victories with the 200-medley relay (Eylul Alli, Silvana Cabrera, Halle Myers, Ellie Kraus) finishing in 1:46.81, and the 400-freestyle relay (Amy O’Rourke, Silvana Cabrera, Maggie Metcalf, Nele Vetter) posting a time of 3:36.52.
Vetter (200-free), Bojana Forjan (100-back), Cabreara (200-fly), and Metcalf (100-fly) also collected victories in the teams final home meet of the season.
The Bonnies have their final tune-up Feb. 3 in Pittsburgh for a tri-meet with Duquesne and Clarion before Atlantic 10 Championships Feb. 21-23 in Hampton, Va.
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — The St. Bonaventure men’s swimming and diving team took down Canisius in Bona’s last home event of the season. The Bonnies had three podium sweeps in the 189-105 win Saturday afternoon at the Reilly Center Pool.
Before the meet, the Bonnies celebrated their graduating class of eight swimmers: Tanner Falls, Kyle Gluck, Jaxon Kaster, Teddy Murphey, Maxwell Murray, Michael Pietrucha, Zachary Titus, and Tommy White.
After the senior ceremony, the squad got right back to business by finishing first and second in the 200-medley relay. The winning relay team, made up of Luigi Termine, Nicholas Nakaya, Alexander Behr, and Carlos Hidalgo, finished with a time of 1:32.47.
The Bonnies’ three podium sweeps came in the 50-, 100-, and 500-freestyle events.
Graduate student Sam Matthews posted the fast time in the 50-freestyle at 20.83. He was followed by senior Kyle Gluck (20.99) and freshman Carlos Hidalgo (21.41).
In the 100-free, Matthews and Hidalgo placed second and third while grad student Tanner Falls touched the wall first with a time of 46.01.
Bonnies swimmers took the top three spots in the 500-freestyle as well. Maxwell Murray led the way with a 4:35.11 time. Spring semester transfer Denton Smith made his Bonaventure debut with a second-place finish in the event (4:44.95) while freshman Aiden Hall followed (4:48.42).
Also earning wins for the Bonnies were Mikolaj Synowiec in the 1000-freestyle, Knute Wargin in the 100-breaststroke, and Boray Goren in the 100-butterfly. Goren posted a time of 50.64 which is his best of the season.
The Bonnies travel to Pittsburgh next weekend for a tri-meet with Clarion and Duquesne as their final outing before Atlantic 10 Championships Feb. 21-23 in Hampton, Va.

Freshman breaststroke swimmer Cassandra Ercoli picked up a pair of top finishes along with six podium finishes in the distance events as the Canisius men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams closed out the regular season against Little Three rival St. Bonaventure Saturday afternoon in the Reilly Center Pool in Olean, N.Y. in collegiate swimming and diving action.
The Bonnies defeated the Golden Griffins on both sides, picking up a 189-105 win for the men and a 187-96 victory for the women’s squad.
Ercoli extended her impressive rookie year performance in Olean by securing victories in the 100 and 200 breaststroke once again. Following her success against John Carroll in Buffalo last weekend, she replicated her achievements today with impressive times of 1:08.15 and 2:30.24 in the respective events.
Junior Ashley Allaire led the way for the distance swimmers this afternoon, finishing first in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time 11:06.04. The Griffs swept the women’s side of this event, with senior Megan Campbell (11:27.60) and freshman Mia McDonnell (11:31.44) following behind Allaire.
Freshman Luke Critchlow continued the distance success for the Griffs placing second in the men’s 1000 free with a time 10:02.09.
The men’s relay team of Marin de Villard, Ben Yant, Toby Mayfield and Alexander Hiltbrand secured a victory in the 400 free relay to finish the meet with a time of 3:10.64
De Villard also finished with a victory in the 200 back, posting a time of 1:51.22.
