St. Bonaventure Brings In Stephanie Fleming As Head Diving Coach

St. Bonaventure University has announced the addition of Stephanie Fleming as new head men’s and women’s diving coach.

Fleming returns to St. Bonaventure after previously serving on staff as head men’s and women’s diving coach from 2010-13. In her previous stint with the Bonnies, she was honored as the 2012 and 2013 Atlantic 10 Men’s Diving Coach of the Year with the second award coming as the culmination of a season where the Bonnies captured the Atlantic 10 Championship.

Also while leading the Bonnies divers, she guided five-time Atlantic 10 champion Mike Murphy and oversaw divers that broke two varsity records and had three divers qualify for NCAA Zones.

After St. Bonaventure, she became the head men’s and women’s diving coach at the University of Findlay in Ohio from 2014-16. At Findlay, she had two divers compete at the NCAA Division II Championships including one who took the school’s highest-ever finish in the 3M. Her divers also broke the program 3M record for 6 and 11 dives and another break the 1M 11 dive varsity record.

Fleming’s coaching experience also includes work at the University of Texas dive camps the past two summers as well as the University of Michigan Dive Club summer camp.

“It is rare to have the opportunity to have someone with Stephanie’s pedigree work for you once. We are fortunate enough to have her return to SBU for the second time,” Bonnies men’s swimming head coach Sean McNamee said. “We look forward to these exciting times with our new staff additions and are eager to get going.”

“Sean and I are really looking forward to having Stephanie lead the way with our divers,” Bonnies women’s swimming head coach Brian Thomas added. “Stephanie’s previous experience at Bonaventure was a huge factor for us as she’ll already have a leg up in terms of recruiting the right kind of kid for our programs. It was easy to see Stephanie’s passion for Bonas and her commitment to our program during the interview process, which really made the decision pretty easy. We’ve gained a ton of momentum with our additions to the staff and it’s been a lot of fun around the RC as we look toward the ’17-18 season.”

Fleming has shared her expertise as an analyst for the Big Ten Network at the Big Ten championships as well.

As an undergraduate, she spent four years on the varsity diving team at the University of Michigan where she was a four-time Academic All-Big Ten Conference selection.

She earned her Masters in Business Administration from St. Bonaventure in 2013 after receiving an undergraduate degree in Sport Management from the University of Michigan in 2010.

She is the wife of St. Bonaventure women’s basketball head coach Jesse Fleming.
