The St. Bonaventure University men’s swimming and diving team has added five members to the program for the Fall of 2017, head coach Sean McNamee announced.
Ethan Carr, Joseph Sepuca, Maciej Danilewski, Michael Bruno and Tjaard Krusch will join early commits Marcus Swartfager and Jason Green to bring the Bonnies’ 2017-18 newcomer total to seven.
“We are going to be looking to lean on this talented and versatile group very heavily,” McNamee said. “We graduated, arguably, one of our strongest classes ever, and that provides the opportunity for others to step up, but also the need for our incoming class to hit the ground running”
Ethan Carr comes to St. Bonaventure from Alburtis, Pa. where he was a five-time individual Division 11 champion for Emmaus High School and holds the school record for the 200-IM. He was also named to the All-Area, All-District and First Team All-State while competing in high school. Ethan also swims for Emmaus Swim Club.
A native of Norwalk, Conn., Joseph Sepuca joins the Bonnies as a breaststroke swimmer. Competing for Norwalk High School, he earned career-best times of 1:00.17 in the 100-breast and 2:11.47 in the 200-breast. An honor roll student, Sepuca intends to major in finance at St. Bonaventure and also played baseball in high school.
Maciej Danilewski comes overseas to St. Bonaventure from Białystok, Poland. He competed for the Athletic Championships General Secondary School prior to joining the Bonnies. Danilewski swims the backstroke, and has been timed at 1:59.96 in the 200 (SCM) back. He will also swim the 400-IM.
Michael Bruno will join the Brown and White as a diver. The Scranton, Pa. native dove for West Scranton High School where he earned career-best scores of 258.55 in the 1-meter 6 dive and 467.75 in the 1-meter 11 dive. Bruno also ran cross country and track and field in high school.
Finally, Tjaard Krusch comes to St. Bonaventure from Dorsheim, Germany where he swam for his high school, Integrierte Gesamschule Stromberg. Krusch will predominantly swim the 100-backstroke (56.84 LCM), 200-backstroke (2:00.77 SCM) and 200-IM (2:04.83 SCM). This past month, Krusch finished 15th in the 100-back in Germany and came in second in the same event at the German Junior Nationals.
Committed in November, Marcus Swartfager and Jason Green are members of the class of 2021 as well. Swartfager joins the Bonnies from Grove City, Pa. For Grove City Area High School, he swam freestyle and butterfly events, and he holds school records in the 100-freestyle, 400-freestyle and the 200-freestyle relay. Green comes to SBU from Baylor High School and Baylor Swim Club under the guidance of Coach Dan Flack, swimming IM, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle events.
