Single-Session Tickets For British Olympic Qualifier Now On Sale

Single-session tickets for the 2016 British Swimming Championships are now on sale via Ticketmaster. The meet, which also serves as the British Olympic Trials, will take place at the Tollcross International Swimmer Center in Glasgow from April 12th-17th.

Tickets for the 2016 British Para-Swimming International Meet April 23rd-27th are also on sale.

Last month, British Swimming confirmed that the meet would not be televised, which sparked some disappointment among the British swimming community.

In 2015 in Kazan, the British national team saw its most successful world championship campaign in the program’s history, coming away with nine medals, including five golds and two world records.

The British swimmers seem up for a big challenge, which is good because the selection standards for the British Olympic team are incredibly fast. In order to make the team individually, swimmers must win their event at the meet and come in underneath the cut (you can see the standards and a more detailed explanation linked above, but to give you an idea, the 100 free standard is 53.68 for women and 48.16 for men). However, the rules allow for up to the national performance director and the Olympic team head coach to add up to six additional athletes on their own discretion. Then, after those six, the coaches can add more swimmers if those swimmers come inside or within a certain percentage of an even faster standard at the meet in Glasgow.

Swimmers who will vie for a spot on the 2016 British Olympic team include James Guy, Chris Walker-Hebborn, Adam Peaty, Ross Murdoch, Fran Halsall, Jazz Carlin, Siobhan-Marie O’Connor, Hannah Miley, and Aimee Willmott.
