Singh has the Midas Touch at Canadian Age Group Championships

On the fourth night of competition in Montreal, Quebec at the Canadian Age Group Championships Tai Long Singh of the Winskill Dolphins continued his domination of the boys 13 and under age group by collected two more golds bringing his win total to six.

Singh collected wins in both the 100 backstroke, posting a time of 1:01.95 and the 200 freestyle, recording a time of 2:01.14, on Saturday.

11 year old Ellie Maradyn of the Edmonton Keyano Swim Club broke her fourth 11-12 year old Alberta Provincial record and collected her third gold of the competition winning the girls 12 and under 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:42.10. Maradyn also set provincial records in the 50 breaststroke (35.34), 100 breaststroke (1:14.42) and 400 IM (5:16.39).

Danielle Hanus of the Newmarket Stingrays picked up her fourth individual gold of the meet winning the girls 15 year old 100 backstroke in a time of 1:02.45. Hanus finished over two seconds ahead of the next competitor.

Her time would have won the Canadian National Championships (Sydney Pickrem won the event in 1:03.19), an event that Hanus missed qualifying for the World Junior Championship team finishing fourth in a time of 1:03.63.

At the conclusion of Saturday’s events the Etobicoke Swim Club continued to lead the team standings with a point total of 1696.5.
