Samantha Hagberg, a current high school senior from Avon, Connecticut, has committed to swim for Division III Pomona-Pitzer Colleges. Hagberg will graduate from Suffield Academy spring 2020 and join the Sagehens’ class of 2024.
Hagberg currently swims for Charter Oak Aquatic Club under head coach Spencer Hartmann. Hagberg was a finalist for Speedo Sectionals along with qualifying for Futures. She has also been recognized as a CT Swimming Scholar Athlete.

With her current best times, Hagberg would have made finals performances in all of her best events at the 2019 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Most notably, she would had placed 3rd in both the 200 butterfly (2:05.23) and 400 IM (4:32.75) and 8th in the 200 IM (2:10.40).
At the SCIAC Championships, Pomona-Pitzer placed 1st as a team for the second year in a row.
Hagberg’s 200 butterfly (2:05.23) is currently a B cut for the DIII NCAA Championships.
Hagberg will begin her swimming career at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges beginning fall 2020.

Is she related to Bob Hagberg, who was perhaps one of the greatest swimmers in Massachusetts High School Swimming?
he’s still Western Mass record holder. 49.1 100 fly in 1990s was pretty darn fast
He did that time in the mid 70’s while representing South Hadley HS, before having a distinguished career at Stanford
Yes, she is my daughter and thanks so much for the recognition for my swimming career. The state record actually was broken 40 years later. Pamona-Pitzer is a great fit for Samantha and I can’t wait to visit her and cheer for the Sagehens. Cheers Old Coach and DIIIER.
