Saint Peters Pick Up First Wins Of Season Over Manhattan, Kean

Jersey City, NJ – Freshman Dillon Kadish (Hollywood, FL/ Nova) keeps raising the bar as the rookie diver bettered his own school record in the three-meter dive with a score of 271.15, more than 12 points higher than the mark he set in October.

The first-year standout and the rest of the divers competed at the NYU Fall Diving invite, while the swimmers traveled to Jersey City. The women competed against both Kean and Saint Peter’s on the women’s side, with the men squaring off with the Peacocks.

Kadish was rewarded with not only a record breaking score, but a fourth place finish.

Sophomore Lexington Passamonte (Rochester, NY / Greece Athena) continued the success on the boards for the Jaspers, recording a fourth-place finish with a score of 204.40 in the one-meter event.

In Jersey City, freshman Mackenzie Tuttle (Highland Mills, NY / Monroe-Woodbury) recorded three top-two finishes. In the 500 yard free, she finished with a time of 5.18.18, enough to earn first place while lowering her own school record. Tuttle also took second in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 29.75, and started the 800 relay that was second, along with freshman Ciara Dalton (Pleasantville, NY / Byram Hills), sophomore Sarah Hamilton (Northland, NZ / St. Cuthbert’s College) and senior Kali Nembach (Lynbrook, NY / Lynbrook), as the foursome posted a time of 8.22.52.

Dalton also had a strong day, earning a victory in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:16.92, while finishing second in both the 100-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard butterfly.

Manhattan went 1-2 in the 50-yard freestyle as Nembach and sophomore Jamie Quinn (Fairfax, VA / WT Woodson) earned first and second place, respectively, for the Jaspers with times of 25.50 and 26.27.

Nembach also crossed the line first in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:04.74, while earning second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.68.

On the men’s side, the 200-yard medley relay team of junior Artur Polyak (Haifa, Israel / Pittsburgh), senior Timothy Valentine (Massapequa, NY / Chaminade), sophomore Kyle Bergin (Lynbrook, NY / Lynbrook Senior) and junior Charles Ledda (New Fairfield, CT / New Fairfield) finished second with a time 1:36.51.

Polyak also captured the 100-yard backstroke title with a time of 55.09, while Valentine finished second in both the 50-yard and 100-yard breaststroke. Bergin was second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.16) while senior Liam Ridge (Pearl River, NY / Albertus Magnus) earned second place in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.50).

For the dual-meet, the Manhattan men’s team fell to Saint Peter’s 207-64, while the women’s team split on the day, besting Kean 167-64 while falling to Saint Peter’s 174-94.

Manhattan returns to action next weekend, a tri-match on November 16 against Siena and Monmouth.

JERSEY CITY, N.J.– The Saint Peter’s men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams picked up their first home wins today over Manhattan College and Kean University. The men dominated the event with first-place wins in 14 out of 15 races, while the women secured both dual meet wins by comfortable margins and had plenty of individual highlights, as well.

Top Performances

  • Twins sisters Marie-Christine Geck and Alina Geck both picked up two second-place wins at the event. Marie-Christine Geck was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:22.72, while Alina Geck did likewise in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:20.23.
  • Martin Le Pays du Teilleul finished first in the 500-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly, and 200-yard freestyle with times of 4:46.37, 53.19, and 1:46.50 respectively.
  • The men dominated the 200-yard IM, with the top-three finishers being Thomas GranetFerran Martinez, and Jt Funari.
  • Justine Drake was another Peacock who took three first-place wins. She competed — and won — in the 50-yard backstroke, one-meter diving, and 100-yard backstroke races.
  • Michael Spark finished first in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 24.68.
  • Devyn Hantgin took the gold in the 50-yard and 100-yard breaststroke races with times of 33.10 and 1:12.80.
  • Luke Cillie picked up two first-place performances. The first was in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 26.08, and the second was in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.72.
  • Efrat Marom finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.23.
  • Finally, Amelie Essmann came out on top in the women’s 50-yard butterfly with a time of 28.69, while Dino Jajcanin finished first in the men’s 50-yard butterfly with a time of 24.30.

Both teams will compete at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 23 in Kings Point, New York.

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (11/9/19) – The Kean University women’s swimming team dropped a meet to Division I opponents Saint Peters University and Manhattan College on Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars fall to 1-5 overall, while the Peacocks improve to 3-2 and the Jaspers improve to 1-2.

“I thought we brought great energy and competed hard against two D1 schools from the MAAC”, said Head Coach Chris Swenson.

Kean took third place in four different events. Mary Harmuth placed third in the 50 breast and 100 breast events with a time of 35.65 (50) and 1:17.69 (100).

Harmuth joined Alaynah JohnsonMolly Laskoand Sarah Sissel in nearly breaking the school record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:01.28, which is just .09 seconds off the record of 2:01.20

Sissel and Lasko teamed up with Kristina Sullivan and Hannah Criollo to place third in the 800 free event with a time of 9:19.06.

“Now it’s time to get back to work Monday morning and prep for Queens College next Thursday”.

Coach Swenson and the Cougars will return to the pool in Flushing, N.Y. on Thursday, Nov. 15th, against Queens College and St. Joseph’s College of Brooklyn at 5:00 p.m.
