KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Saint Louis swimming and diving teams combined for 14 event victories in their dual-meet sweep of Truman State Friday night.
The SLU men won eight events and defeated Truman State 136-68, while the Billiken women touched first six times en route to a 111-94 win over the Bulldogs.
Grant Streid, Nick Soltys and Tyler Guist were double winners for the men’s team. Streid won the 100 freestyle (47.12), Soltys captured the 50 freestyle (21.87) and Guist claimed the 500 freestyle (4:51.71). The trio combined with Sion Cavana to win the 200 freestyle relay (1:27.11).
Also winning for the Saint Louis men were Preston Waldusky in the 400 individual medley (4:14.91), Janssen Gamilla in the 100 butterfly (50.92), T.J. Halliburton in the 100 backstroke (51.22) and Collin O’Brien in the 100 breaststroke (58.52).
The Billiken women received victories from Lindsey Turner in the 1000 freestyle (10:42.24), Natalie Daniel in the 200 freestyle (1:57.19), Katie Schmude in the 400 individual medley (4:38.84), Bri Hodgkins in the 100 butterfly (58.55), Emily Smith in the 100 backstroke (58.72) and Claire Koh in the 500 freestyle (5:13.01).
The Billikens compete at the Butler Invitational in Indianapolis Sunday, Jan. 26.

KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman men’s swimming team hosted Division I Saint Louis University Friday as the team celebrated Senior Day for Lliot Gieseke, Justin King, Brenden Harris, Austin Mayer and Riley Olson. Ultimately the visiting Billikens emerged victorious 136-68.
Connor Neils and John Breen both finished first in individual events, in the 1000 free and 200 free, respectively. Neils finished with a time of 10:02.81 and Breen at 1:44.61. In the 200 medley relay, the team of Mike and Mark Franz, Gieseke and Harris finished first with a time of 1:34.15.
After the dual, coach Jerod Simek said, “Our team really stepped up early on to take the lead early against a tough D1 opponent. I know they wanted to send their seniors out on a high note and the energy and intensity was certainly there. I am incredibly proud of our seniors with everything they have accomplished in their time here at Truman!”
The team will be back in action for their final action of the regular season tomorrow as they take on Western Illinois in Macomb, Ill. at 1 p.m.
KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman women’s swimming team came into the day ranked 20th in the Division II national rankings, and took on Division I Saint Louis University at Pershing Natatorium, falling just short as the Billikens won 111-94. Seniors Maggie Hickey, Mikayla Kempf, Lauren Massot, Megan Mensinger and Kaylee Sisson were honored in their last action at Pershing.
The team finished 1-2-3 in the 100 breaststroke with Natalie Galluzo taking first place (1:06.07), Ginny Schanck (1:06.89) taking second and Allison Garrett (1:07.65) in third place. In the 100 freestyle Lexi Poe took first place with a time of 54.28 and Garrett came in second at 54.44. Emma Brabham came in first place in the 50 meter free with a time of 24.28. Brabham also swam the first leg of the winning team in the 200 freestyle relay with Galluzo, Hickey and Sisson (1:48.00).
