Rosters Revealed As USA Women & Russia Begin Play Tomorrow

Huntington Beach, CA – July 20 – The 2016 U.S. Olympic Women’s Water Polo Team has just one final tune-up before the Olympic Games begin on August 9 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Team USA welcomes Russia to California for a three game series starting tomorrow at 6pm pt at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, CA. The two teams head north to Los Angeles, CA and UCLA for a match on July 24 at 2pm pt followed by a journey further north to Palo Alto, CA for a match at Stanford University on July 27 at 7pm pt. The final match has been dubbed the “Rumble To Rio” and takes place in between the first and second sessions of the 2016 Junior Olympics. It marks the fifth straight Olympic Games that Stanford has hosted the send-off match for the USA Women.

The USA Women are coming off a three-game sweep of Hungary on the East Coast and now look to finish final preparations before they open Olympic play on August 9 against Spain. In Russia, Team USA meets a squad that also punched their ticket to Rio at the Olympic Qualification Tournament this past March in the Netherlands.
