Alex Nguyen, from Olney, Maryland, has committed to study and swim at Northwestern University, beginning the Fall of 2025. Nguyen is a rising Senior at Richard Montgomery High School in the International Baccalaureate program, and trains year-round with Rockville-Montgomery Swim Club at Olney.

Swimming for RMSC, Alex has competed at USA Swimming Summer Junior Nationals, Open Water Junior Nationals, and he was the Eastern Zone Super Sectionals champion in 1500m free (16:06.34) this past May. Alex also has represented the club yearly at the NCSA Spring Championships and NCSA Summer LC Championships. In the 2024 Spring meet in Orlando, he recorded his lifetime best in 500 free (4:32.47) and finished top 24 in 1500 free. He recently competed in the 2024 NCSA Summer LC Championships in Indianapolis, where he recorded a top 16 finish in 1500 free, top 24 in a lifetime best in 400 free (4:03.98), and was part of RMSC’s 4th place 800 free relay.
In high school competition, Alex has been a consistent Washington Metropolitan Swim & Dive Championships (Metros) A-finalist in 200 and 500 free. His top finish this year was a 5th in 500 free, and he also finished 9th in 200 free in a lifetime best (1:44.13). He has also finished 4th in the 500 free and 5th in the 200 free at the 2024 Maryland Public Schools 4A/3A State Championships. Alex has been named a Potomac Valley Swimming Scholar Athlete each year of high school, and was a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American in 2023.
