The meet opened up with the Fox Lane High School 200 Medley Relay Team of Maureen O’Sullivan, Margaret Kleinsmith, Jamie Lee and Noelle Kaufman which set a new Section 1 record in the event with a time of 1:47.33.
Pelham freshman Kate Douglass took down the 2nd Section One record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.15 seconds, just .10 seconds off the New York State Record, an automatic All-America cut and a new Section 1 record.
The 3rd Section One record to fall In Friday’s diving, went to Pelham freshman Jennifer Bell won the title scoring 528.05 points setting a new record.
Horace Greeley senior Emma Hadley took the 100-butterfly title touching in a time of 55.84 seconds, which is in consideration for All-American
Mamaroneck senior Nicole Parry won the 100 free title for the second straight year in a time of 52.54 seconds.
Pelham High School Relay Team of Jane Bryce, Sarah Dunbar, Madison Hartigan and Kate Douglass (an impressive split of 22.77) set the 4th new Section One record in an All-America consideration time of 1:36.49.
Emma Hadley took down the 5th record, retained her Section One title in the 100-backstroke with a time of 54.62 seconds lowering her Section 1 record from last year, in an automatic All-America time. Emma helped lead the Quakers to their fourth-straight Section 1 title.
Kate Douglass stepped up her game, winning the Section One title for a 2nd year in the 100-breaststroke in 1:02.14, which is the 6th Section 1 record and another automatic All-America cut as well as a New York State Public High School Record.
Closing out the meet and walking away with the 7th Section One Record was The Ursuline 400 free relay team of Kate Amar, MaryKate Melnyk, Kelly Amar & Josephine Panitz, they edged out Pelham to set a new Section 1 record in a time of 3:30.54. Both relay teams times earned All-American Consideration.
The New York State Championships is slated for November 20-21st. There is a tremendous amount of talent in the other Sections in New York State which should result in a very fast New York State Championship Meet.
