CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men’s and women’s swimming teams continue to lead the field at this year’s Kellianne Nagy Fall Frenzy following day two of competition. Through 24 events, the women sit in front with 1055.5 points while the men are ahead with 1759 points.
Queens’ women kicked off the night winning the 200-medley relay as Caroline Lawrence, Annika Huber, Monica Gumina, and Danielle Melilli clocked a time of 1:40.05 to edge UNC Asheville.
The remaining wins this evening for the Royals women would be in individual events as Gumina returned to the pool to capture a win in the 200 freestyle with a new meet record time of 1:46.79. Queens then turned in a one, two finish in the 100 breaststroke as Melilli took first with a time of 1:01.45. Huber followed with a time of 1:01.80.
In the closing relay of the night, the 800-freestyle relay, Queens’ Sophia Lange, Giulia Grasso, Huber, and Lawrence took second behind Nova Southeastern.
Queens’ men were able to sweep tonight’s relays opening with a win in the 200-medley relay and capping the evening with an 800-freestyle relay victory. Alexander Bauch, Jan Delkeskamp, Matej Dusa, and Myers Morgan got the Royals going with a time of 1:26.70 in the 200-medley relay while Balazs Berecz, Daniel Meszaros, Luke Erwee, and Alex Kunert recorded a time of 6:32.70 in the 800-freestyle relay.
Individually, Delkeskamp also secured a win in the 400 IM with a time of 3:51.43. Aidan Henry followed for second place. Additionally, Bauch, Marz, and Finn Howard completed the 100 backstroke in places 1-3, respectively.

We continue to build momentum,” Queens Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Planning and Leadership Development/ Director of Swimming Operations Jeff Dugdale commented. The learning process has been excellent as the lessons have been plentiful. The staff will gather make some adjustments and use what we have learned to get ready for the US Open and Conference.
