USA Swimming has posted the psych sheets for the 2014 Junior Winter National Championships that begin on Wednesday, December 10th in Federal Way, Washington.
See the full psych sheets here.
This meet can be a tough one, because the standards are almost identical to those of senior Winter Nationals, and many choose to go to the bigger meet instead. This year’s Winter Juniors field is a pretty good one, even across the country from senior Nationals, and provides a lot of reasons to pay attention.
That should include some great distance free battles between Aidan Burns, Sean Grieshop, and Taylor Abbott, for those who are into the distance freestyles.
Top high school seniors Ella Eastin, Brooke Hansen, and Kim Williams bring some firepower to the girls’ 200 IM, and former National Age Group Record holder Lindsey Horejsi out of Minnesota will try and fight off Riley Scott in the girls’ 100 breaststroke.
Taylor Garcia from Byron Center in Michigan brings some firepower to the girls’ 100 back (best time of 52.07), and Michael Thomas will do the same for the boys (46.65).
This meet once again looks to be a huge event, and an indicator of why USA Swimming is dividing it into two meets in the future. Most individual events hover around 150 entries,
Sam Magnan 2014 Jr.National champion 1650, seeded 2nd at Winter Jr’s in the mile
Stanzi Moseley quietly put up some Weitzeil/Bilquist caliber times this summer. I hope to see her pop this weekend. Could be a good meet for Ryan Hoffer as well; it’s west coast (no jet lag), sprinters usually retaper well, and he seemed to think he could go even faster at AZ States.
Don’t forget Abbey Weitzeil. She’s flying back from Qatar for this!
Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center is a great pool that owns World, US Open, American and NCAA records. I’m sure the recent upgrades have undoubtedly improved the air quality since the last time I’ve swam there.
No mention of Sam Magnan from Parkland Aquatic Club in the mix for the distance freestyles? He did win the 1500 this summer. I believe he’s a top 5 seed in both the 1650 and 500 at this meet.
We here in the Mitten couldn’t be more proud of Taylor Garcia!! She has been a joy to watch, and a joy to have on the team (Holland High School and MLA) Her humility shines through all she does, from helping other team mates, including everyone all things, to being a top academic student at Holland High School and never being boastful. She is the real deal, guys. She has a sense of humor (obviously!) and doesn’t sweat the small stuff. She comes from a family that is loving and genuine. Arizona really got the pick of the pack and she will not disappoint. Good luck Tay!! We will be watching and cheering just like always!! Love you girl. Now… Read more »

9 hours of time change with France. 🙄
It means 2 AM for me.
It could have been worse. 🙂
And live stream of Tom Dolan Invitational at midnight will keep me well awake before US juniors start.
It looks like schedule has been made for me.
Recovery, recovery. Will be the key in these prelim finals each day. Who gets the most from this will get the edge,
