Pittsburgh Resumes Action vs. West Virginia

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are set to resume action on Saturday, Jan. 9, when they travel to Morgantown, W.Va., to go head-to-head with long-time rivals, the Mountaineers, beginning at 10 a.m. at the WVU Natatorium.

The men’s team currently sits at 12-5 overall (0-4 ACC), while the women are off to a strong start of 15-3 (2-2 ACC), tallying conference wins over Georgia Tech (191-109) and Notre Dame (188-182). With less than a month left in the regular season the Panthers will look to make a strong push in this final stretch.

Prior to winter break, Pitt owned 46 of the ACC’s top 25 times across all individual events, highlighted by senior Kaleigh Ritter’s 16:12.73 mark in the 1650 free which ranked 11th in the nation and second in the conference when it was posted at the Big Al Invite.

Both teams look to extend their winning streaks against WVU this weekend as the men pursue their fifth straight victory, while the women vie for their fourth. The Panthers swept the competition a year ago at Trees Pool, defeating the Mountaineers on the men’s side 176-124. The women dominated West Virginia 224-75.
