U.S. Olympic gold medalist Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill.) will be an honorary co-chairman at the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association Gala event, which runs from 7-11 p.m. CT on Saturday at Fields BMW in Northfield, Ill.
“It was very humbling when I was asked to be an honorary chair for GLASA’s gala red carpet event. The number of lives they’ve touched is incredible, and I feel fortunate to be part of such a wonderful cause.”
Throughout the evening, Grevers will share how he got into swimming along with the importance of GLASA. The six-time Olympic medalist will also sign autographs and pose for pictures.
Serving alongside Grevers as co-chairman is U.S. Paralympian Alyssa Gialamas. Gialamas is a member of the Paralympic National Swim Team and is a 12-time American record holder. Both Grevers and Gialamas grew up in the Chicago-land area.

Grevers’ appearance at GLASA Gala is part of USA Swimming’s Athlete Partnership Program. The program is a platform for National Team swimmer to encourage kids and adults to take up the sport as a healthy and positive activity.
