NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University swimming and diving dominated on Saturday afternoon at the J.C. Scrap Chandler Pool, as the women defeated VMI 207-61 and North Florida, 195-91, while the men’s team beat VMI 186-104.

ODU started off the meet with a win in the women’s 400 medley relay with Jacklyn VandePoelTara EnnekingRylee Moss and Summer Miln winning ina time of 3:56.96.

The men won the 400 medley relay in 3:26.26, with the team of Neal Mcelhattan, Peter DurisinFilip Svedberg and Parker Harp.

Brynn Jewell won the first individual event with a time of 10:43.67 in the 1000 freestyle.

Hunter Young won the 1000 free with a time of 10:05.54 with Brennan Carroll taking second in 10:11.84.

Miranda Byrne won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.58 as Jacqueline Tinneny took second in 1:57.06.

Gus Maxwell won the men’s 200 free in 1:47.1 edging Jackson Grotjohn who had a time of 1:48.62.

Peri Farling eked out a win over Jacklyn VandePoel in the 100 backstroke. Farling finished in 58.50, while VandePoel had a time of 58.62.

Mcelhattan won the men’s 100 backstroke in 53.06 as Hugo Eriksson took second in 53.13.

Paige Romine continued the winning trend with a triumph in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.50. Gabby Tosi was second in 1:08.84.

Nathan Kimbel won the men’s 100 breastroke in 57.38 to beat out Peter Durisin who had a time of 58.03.

In the men’s 200 butterfly, Alex Arrieta won with a time of 1:54.48 and Gus Maxwell took second with a time of 1:56.02.

Summer Miln and Enneking went 1-2 in the 50 freestyle, as Miln had a time of 24.16 and Enneking 24.36.

Parker Harp edged Filip Svedberg in the men’s 50 free 21.07 to 21.12.

Miln also took first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.71 as Byrne finished second with a time of 53.60.

Harp won the men’s 100 free with a time of 46.82, .01 ahead of second-place finisher Arrieta.

VandePoel won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:04.27, while Alizee Brossier took second in 2:05.11.

Jacob Cobb won the men’s 200 backstroke in 1:53.04 as Mcelhattan was second in 1:57.61.

Enneking added another win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:24.08. Katie Ellett came in second with a time of 2:28.57.

Durisin won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:09.07 with Kimbel taking second in 2:10.21.

VandePoel added another win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:11.47. Byrne came in second with a time of 5:14.93.

Gus Maxwell was the men’s 500 freestyle winner with a time of 4:46.99. Young took second in 4:48.59.

In the diving events, Amanda Caruso won the 1-meter dive with a score of 214.65 with Amanda Whepley taking second with a score of 208.43.

Kaleigh Everette won the 3-meter dive with a score of 215.02 with Caruso taking second in 208.95.

Josh Thomas swept the men’s and 1 and 3-meter dives. He scored 198 on the 1-meter and 225.75 on the 3-meter.

NORFOLK, Va. – The VMI men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams had several top performances Saturday as both teams competed at Old Dominion University. The women’s team also had North Florida University as an opponent.

ODU defeated VMI’s men 186-104 and the women 207-61, while North Florida outscored the Keydet women’s team 213-55.
Jack Sheehan placed second for VMI in the 200-yard IM in 1:58.40 and the 200-yard medley relay team of Ryan SchmitzZach EmersonConnor Doyle and James Fraser also took second in 1:34.43. Doyle placed third in the 200 (1:48.98) and 500-free (4:56.90), while Bridger Thurston placed second in both the 1-meter (169.50) and 3-meter (171.52) diving events. Schmitz was third in the 50 free in 22.17 and the 100 free in 48.45. Emerson paced the team in the 200 back in 1:59.46 while Nathan Hicks recorded a 2:16.73 in the 200-breast to take third and swam a 1:03.98 in the 100-breast.

Emerson, Sheehan, Andrew Mills and Schmitz finished the 400-medley relay in 3:41.04 for third and Conner Jorgensen was fourth in the 1000 free in 10:24,11. Anno Kong finished the 100-back in 55.54, Ryan Cooper was fourth in the 200-fly in 2:04.68 and Fraser was fourth in the 100 fly in 55.47.

Sophie Svoboda swam a 1.00.99 in the women’s 100 back and a 55.66 in the 100 free. Sarah MacDougall swam times of 26.86 and 208.79 in the 50 and 200-free.  and London Yerasimides placed fourth in 1-meter diving (164.17) while Nina Rodriguez was fifth in the 3-meter (131.70). Holly Hein was VMI’s top placer in the 100-breast (1:28.99), 200-IM (3:00.47) and the 200 breast (306.99).

Isabella DeCosta swam a 2:27.84 in the 200-back and a 1:14.74 in the 100-fly. The 200-yard free relay team of Svoboda, MacDougall, Olivia Bryant and DeCosta finished in 1:50.20 while Bryant, Maddie Berry, Hein and Catherine Ahumada finished the 400-medley in 5:06.20.

Both teams will compete next Friday and Saturday at Mount St. Mary’s College (Md.).

NORFOLK, Va. – UNF swimming (4-8) continued a busy January splitting a tri-meet at Old Dominion (5-2) after downing VMI, 213-55, while falling to the host Monarchs, 195-91, Jan. 18.

UNF’s 213 points in the win against VMI was its most since a 227-68 victory against Charleston Oct. 24, 2009.

The Ospreys put up 12 first place times on the day, with 11 of them coming against the Keydets (0-7) to secure the Ospreys second neutral site triumph of the 2019-20 campaign.
