The trio helped Ohio State to a 187.5-165.5 dual meet victory over Virginia Tech over the weekend to kick off the 2022-23 season.
Clark turned in two impressive performances. He won the 1000 free, finishing the event in 9:02.58. Clark finished 17 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. He also earned a win in the 500 free with a time of 4:22.72, which was seven seconds quicker than the second-place swimmer.
Matthews placed first in the men’s 1-meter dive with a score of 380.63. He placed fourth in the 3-meter dive with an overall score of 382.65. Both are NCAA Zones qualifying scores.
In his debut with the Buckeyes, Jankovics had a strong weekend. He placed fourth in both the 200 IM (1:49.49) and the 200 back (1:50.36). He placed seventh in the 100 back with a time of 50.82. Jankovics was also on the sixth-place 200 medley (1:31.30) and 400 free (3:05.10_ relay teams.
The Buckeyes are back in action on Friday, Nov. 11 when they host Denision for a dual meet at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
