Nebraska-Omaha Secures Verbal Commitment from Hailey Brull

Hailey Brull of Shawnee Mission, Kansas has made a verbal commitment to swim for the University of Nebraska Omaha beginning in the fall of 2017. Brull is a relative newcomer to year-round swimming. She began as a gymnast and only began swimming full-time four years ago. Since then, she has won Kansas state 6A titles in two different events.

“I committed to UNO because of the welcoming community and excelling academic and athletic opportunities.”

Brull is a senior at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. At the KSHSAA 6A Girls State Swimming & Diving Championships last May, she won the 100 fly (56.85) and was runner-up in the 200 IM (2:07.92, .69 out of first place). She also swam breast on the medley relay (30.76 split) and anchored Shawnee Mission Northwest’s 200 free relay (24.54). The previous year she won the 100 breast (1:07.88) and was third in the 100 fly (57.22), while swimming back on the medley relay and anchoring the 400 free relay.

Brull swims year-round for Kansas City Blazers. She competed in the 100/200m breast, 100/200m fly, and 200/400m IM at Columbia Sectionals this past summer, earning personal bests and finishing in the top 28 in every event except the 400 IM.
