Jake Lloyd, a National Age Group Record holder in the 15-16 boys’ 200 free relay, announced his verbal commitment to compete for Texas A&M University beginning in the fall of 2026.
“I am extremely excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Texas A&M University. I want to thank my family, friends, and coaches, especially Coach Kyle, Coach McKinley, and Coach Lopresti for all their support in my swimming career so far. I would also like to thank Coach Blaire and all the coaches at Texas A&M for this great opportunity to be a part of the Aggie Family. Gig ’em”
A junior at St. Charles Preparatory School in Columbus, OH, Lloyd currently swims for Central Ohio Aquatics, where he primarily specializes in free, breast and fly.
At the 2024 Columbus Speedo Sectionals (LCM), Lloyd was a part of Central Ohio’s record-setting relay squad. During a time trial of the 200 free relay, the team of Austin Carpenter, Lloyd, Alex Wu and Brad King threw down a time of 1:33.29 to secure the National Age Group Record for that event for the boys’ 15-16 age group. Lloyd had the fastest split of the group, posting a time of 22.91 as the second leg of the race.
As a sophomore at St. Charles, Lloyd became the Ohio state champion in the 50 free, winning the event in a then-best time of 20.28. This past season he was the runner-up in the 50 at the OHSAA Division I State Championship, posting a new lifetime best time of 19.96 to mark his first time under 20 seconds. Lloyd also posted a runner-up finish in the 100 free, turning in a best time of 44.83.
Lloyd most recently competed at the Indianapolis Speedo Sectionals (LCM) in March, where he turned in a series of personal best performances. He placed 9th in the 50 free (23.43 – PB) and 9th in the 100 breast (1:03.99 – PB), landing Juniors cuts in both events. Lloyd also finished 14th in the 100 free (53.26) and 13th in the 100 fly (57.07 – PB).
Best Times SCY

- 100 breast – 55.52
- 100 fly – 49.31
A Division 1 program, Texas A&M competes in the SEC conference, with the Aggies finishing 5th at the SEC Championships in February. The team sent nine men on to compete at the NCAA Division I Championships in March, where they placed 12th overall.
To earn a second swim at the 2025 SECs, it took times of 19.53/42.75 in the 50/100 free, 52.98 in the 100 breast and 46.78 in the 100 fly, putting Lloyd narrowly outside the margin in his top events. On the team itself, Lloyd would have ranked 6th in the 50 free, 8th in the 100 free, 9th in the 100 breast and 16th in the 100 fly. With another season before Lloyd arrives on the pool deck, it remains to be seen exactly how the roster will shake out when he joins the team.
Set to join Lloyd in Texas A&M’s class of 2026 so far are Wyatt Vitiello (free/back/IM), Gideon Swan (free/fly/IM) and Clark Coyle (free/back/fly).

Can’t really call him a NAG record holder, that takes away from people who have worked countless hours to earn it in an actual event. This is like giving someone a medal for a 33 meter breastroke. Not real. Disappointing.
Dave Durden to Texas A&M. Hear me out:
