USA Swimming has informed SwimSwam that today, Monday, January 27th, will be the release of the independent 3rd-party of the SafeSport program.
The review is being led by Victor Vieth, the executive director of a company called Gunderson. While the review is to specifically focus on the SafeSport program, we were told at the time that Vieth would be a broad range to explore things that were related, but not necessarily directly under the SafeSport umbrella.
The review was promised in January, and so that deadline is being met. We will post the review today when we receive it, along with highlights, lowlights, and analysis of the Vieth findings.
There will also be a teleconference scheduled for this afternoon, where members of the media, including SwimSwam, will be able to ask questions of Vieth and USA Swimming Executive Director Chuck Wielgus, among other power-players in this review.
