OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University women’s swimming & diving team dominated on Saturday afternoon to beat the University at Buffalo at home. The RedHawks secured numerous finishes on the board to finish the meet ahead of Buffalo with a score of 205-95.
How It Happened:
- Miami had multiple first-place finishes leading them to their victory over Buffalo. They began the meet with Miami’s A team made up of, Madeline Padavic, Ashley Sego, McKenzie Reid, and Nicole Maier placing first in the 200-yard medley relay with a combined time of 1:42.89 alongside their B team in second place, with Jenna Halliday, Emma Schueler, Honor Brodie-Foy, and Natalie Gilson finishing with a combined time of 1:44.33
- Kaylin Herbet recorded two first-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.96) and the 200-yard IM (2:05.20).
- Maier also placed first individually in the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.38), and the 500-yard freestyle (5:02.83).
- Individual first-place finishers were Audrey Conley in the 1000-yard freestyle (1:42.89), Greta Kolbeck in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.19), Padavic in the 100-yard backstroke (55.65), Brodie-Foy in the 50-yard freestyle, Chrisna Bezuidenhout in the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.88), and Schueler in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.68).
- Miami had all top three finishers in the 100-yard freestyle with Julia Waechter in first (51.38), Herbet in second (52.02), and Kolbeck in third (52.27). They also secured all three top finishers in the 100-yard breaststroke with Herbet in first, Schueler in second (1:04.98), and Sara Lahrach-Sanchez in third (1:05.61).
- Second place finishers for Miami were Waechter in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.20), Gilson in the 50-yard freestyle (23.98), Erin Szczupakiewicz in the 100-yard butterfly (56.75), and Sego in the 200-yard IM (2:06.23).
- Miami also had multiple third place finishes today; Casey Stephens in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:39.55), Bezuidenhout in the 100-yard backstroke (57.08), Szczupakiewicz in the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.37), Ella Ziegert in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.58), and Brooke-lynn Clark in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.74).
- For diving events, Sydney Rice came in first in the 3-meter with a total of 302.33 points, and placed fourth in the 1-meter dive with a total of 267.90 points.
- The meet concluded with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay for Miami’s A team made up of Maier, Gilson, Waechter, and Brodie-Foy with a combined time of 3:28.86, alongside their B team made up of Padavic, Kolbeck, Rachel Botting, and Halliday for a time of 3:32.10.

The men and women swimming and diving teams will compete next during the Miami Invitational beginning on Thursday, Nov. 30 and ending Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center.

OXFORD, OHIO – In their second meet of the regular season, the University at Buffalo swimming and diving team fell to the Miami RedHawks, 205-95.
THE POOL
Graduate student Clarice Fisher had a strong day in the pool for the Bulls. In the 100 yard butterfly, Fisher took first place with a time of 56.03, grabbing nine points for Buffalo. Fisher also placed second in the 200 yard butterfly (2:04.53) and placed third in the 200 yard individual medley (2:09.88).
Senior Marij van der Mast was another bright spot for the Bulls, with a second-place finish in the 500 yard freestyle (5:10.40) and a third place finish in the 200 yard freestyle (1:55.07).
The Bulls had six second place finishes in the pool, with the RedHawks taking first place in 13 of the 14 events.
THE DIVING WELL
The Bulls outscored the RedHawks 25-13 in the diving well, continuing Buffalo’s diving domination.
In 1M-diving, the Bulls had seven of the eight top finishers, grabbing 16 of the 19 points available. Victoria Franz took first place in the event, with a score of 299.55, grabbing nine points for Buffalo. Presley Dorsett (287.55) and Marialis Kwak (273.23) followed, taking second and third consecutively, adding the remaining seven points the Bulls could score. Sophie Meuwissen (264.87), Kaylee Donovan (239.40), Mallory Hanna (239.25) and Maggie Meyers (232.58) rounded out the group of Buffalo divers, taking spots five through eight.
In 3M-diving, Miami of Ohio’s Sydney Rice took nine first-place points for the RedHawks, but the Bulls followed with having the next six divers to place. Kwak (286.80) took second for Buffalo, with Franz (3rd, 270.0) and Dorsett (4th, 263.03) also adding points for the Bulls.

UP NEXT
The Bulls look to get back on track when they compete in the Princeton Invitational. The meet begins on December 1st at 10 am, continuing competitions throughout the weekend in the DeNunzio Pool.
