Oxford, Ohio. — The Miami University swimming and diving team hosted Xavier University on Saturday at Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center. The women went on to defeat the Musketeers 168-94. The men completed the senior day sweep, defeating Xavier 159-86.

How it Happened: 

  • The meet kicked off with the women’s 400 medley where the women’s A team claimed first place. Madeline PadavicNatalie GilsonKaylin Herbet, and Julia Waechter turned in a combined time of 3:40.44 The women’s B team finished third. Angelina CakulsZofia Janaszek-SeydlitzElla Ziegert and Taylor Connors posted a combined time of 3:45.29
  • Up next was the men’s 400 medley where the men’s A team took home first place. Jensen NelsonAdrian DulayHenju Duvenhage and Ian Kmiliauskis turned in a combined time of 3:14.34. The men’s B team finished third. Drew WatsonBenjamin EichbergAllen Cotton and Tegan Barrier posted a combined time of 3:17.33.
  • Katheryn Antonowich finished first in the women’s 1000-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 10:15.72. Lauren Gualtieri was second, recording a time of 10:24.18.
  • The men’s 1000-yard freestyle was next where Yonatan Rosin finished second earning a time of 9:35.33.
  • Herbet finished first in the women’s 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.65. Julia Waechter finished third putting up a time of 1:53.30.
  • Bryce Menchhofer came in first place in the men’s 200-yard freestyle, turning in a time of 1:38.48. Kmiliauskis was third, recording a time of 1:43.82.
  • The women’s 100-yard backstroke was next where Ziegert took home first-place with a time of 54.25. Cakuls finished second clocking a time of 55.59.
  • Allen Cotton was first in the men’s 100-yard backstroke earning a time of 48.36. Watson finished second turning in a time of 49.43.
  • The women’s 100-yard breaststroke was next where Emma Schueler placed second clocking a time of 1:03.56. Maddie Zehr finished in fourth-place with a time of 1:05.62.
  • After that was the men’s 100-yard breaststroke where Duvenhage finished first, recording a time of 54.95. In third-place was Ian Wihebrink, who finished with a time of 55.59.
  • Erin Szczupakiewicz came in second place in the women’s 200-yard butterfly posting a time of 2:03.01. Emily Rinker placed third with a time of 2:05.30.
  • The men’s 200-yard butterfly was after that where Owen Hoban finished second recording a time of 1:49.47. Aidan Jacobs was third putting up a time of 1:52.00
  • Next was the women’s 50-yard freestyle where Taylor Connors came in second-place clocking a time of 23.16. Jenna Halliday was right behind her in third place with a time of 23.19
  • In the men’s 50-yard freestyle Tegan Barrier came in first, Jack Herczeg in second,  Scott Spear in third and Carter McIntosh in fourth, with times of 20.37, 20.59, 20.73 and 21.10 respectively.
  • Padavic placed second in the women’s 100-yard freestyle, turning in a time of 50.40. Ziegert came in fourth earning a time of 52.02.
  • Cotton came in second in the men’s 100-yard freestyle, recording a time of 45.65. Menchhofer was fourth with a time of 45.94.
  • Chrisna Bezuidenhout took home first place and set a school record for the women’s 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:56.88. Halliday finished second turning in a time of 2:01.98, and Mady Bachmeier came in third recording a time of 2:02.58.
  • Jensen Nelson was first  in the men’s 200-yard backstroke posting a time of 1:48.65. Zach Bann was right behind him in second with a time of 1:49.45 followed by Aaron Black in third clocking a time of 1:54.25.
  • The women’s 200-yard breaststroke was next where Gilson placed first, Caitlyn Groff in second, Zofia Janaszek-Seydlitz in third, and Maddie Zehr with times of 2:18.44, 2:20.53, 2:20.62, and 2:21.65 respectively.
  • The men’s 200-yard breaststroke was next where Eichberg took home first-place with a time of 2:03.43. Paul Brosky finished in third, recording a time of 2:05.07.
  • Up next was the women’s 500-yard freestyle where Casey Stephens finished first earning a time of 4:58.89. Antonowich finished third, turning in a time of 4:59.53.
  • Tommy Frye placed first in the men’s 500-yard freestyle posting a time of 4:38.23. Nick Barrows was right behind him in second place clocking a time of 4:39.71.
  • The women’s 100-yard butterfly was next where Herbet came in first putting up a time of 54.89. McKenzie Reid was fourth with a time of 56.53.
  • After that was the men’s 100-yard butterfly where Hoban took home first place with a time of 49.06. Dulay finished second posting a time of 49.06. Spear finished third turning in a time of 49.76.
  • Piper Prince came in first in the women’s 200 IM with a time of 2:03.05. Rinker finished third, recording a time of 2:07.69.
  • Duvenhage finished first in the men’s 200 IM earning a time of 1:48.47. Watson was third clocking a time of 1:51.53.
  • The women’s 200-yard freestyle relay was up next where the women’s A team finished first. Padavic, Waechter, Gilson and Halliday turned in a combined time of 1:32.49. The women’s B team finished in third. Connors, Maggie Stock, Reid, and Schueler posted a combined time of 1:34.57
  • Swimming events concluded with the men’s 200-yard freestyle relay where the men’s B team finished first. Kevin Donaldson, Barrier, Carter McIntosh, and Kmiliauskis turned in a combined time of 1:21.41. The men’s C team finished in third. Nelson, Eichberg, Danila Likitin, and Wihebrink posted a combined time of 1:24.42.

 

UP NEXT: The RedHawks men and women will hit the road to take on Kenyon College on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m.

OXFORD, Ohio – Xavier swimming traveled to Oxford, Ohio, to face Miami (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon. Xavier collected seven first place finishes but fell to the RedHawks on both sides.

Xavier will head to Fishers, Ind., on Sunday to take part in the Butler Invite, set to get underway at noon at Fishers High School.

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Reese TurnerJordyn LiblerErin Ritz and Olivia Oyster opened up the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay, setting a time of 3:40.68.
  • Teegan Madara led the Musketeers in the 1000 free, setting a time of 10:26.31 to finish third.
  • Alexis Worrall placed second in the 200 free, finishing in a time of 1:50.39.
  • Abby Bocian’s time of 56.44 led the Musketeers in the 100 back, placing second. Bocian also placed second in the 500 free, finishing in 4:59.20.
  • Jordyn Libler won the 100 breast with a time of 1:01.54. Karlie Dodd placed third.
  • Norah Simich took first in the 200 fly with a time of 1:59.61.
  • Olivia Oyster won the 50 free with a time of 22.74. She set a time of 50.13 in the 100 free to touch the wall first and sweep the freestyle sprints.
  • Julia Sweetman set a time of 2:04.84 in the 200 back to lead the Musketeers.
  • Maddy Lathrop led the Musketeers in the 200 breast, finishing in a time of 2:25.57.
  • Norah Simich set a time of 54.92 in the 100 fly to place second. Erin Ritz finished third.
  • Jordyn Libler led Xavier in the 200 IM, finishing in 2:06.21 to place second.
  • Alexis WorrallReese TurnerNorah Simich and Olivia Oyster set a time of 1:33.51 in the 200 free relay, placing second.
  • The Musketeers collected four event wins, but fell, 168-94, to the RedHawks.
