Mexican NAG Record-Holder Natasha Gvakharia of Bolles School Signs with Texas A&M

Natasha Gvakharia Mgebrishvili of the Bolles School has signed an NLI to swim for the Texas A&M Aggies in 2015-16.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of such a great team and I can’t wait to be an Aggie.”

Gvakharia swims for Bolles School Sharks when she competes in the US. She represented Mexico at the FINA World Junior Championships in 2013, where she made the semi-finals of the 50m free and ended up 13th with a time of 26.27, setting a national age-group record in Mexico. She also competed in the 100m free and was 25th with 57.76.

At the recent FHSAA High School Class 1A Championships, Gvakharia placed 10th in the 200 free (1:50.39) and sixth in the 100 fly (55.54) and was a member of Bolles School’s winning 200 medley and 400 free relays. Her top times are:

50y free: 23.61 50m free: 26.24

  50m fly: 28.14
100y fly: 55.14 100m fly: 1:03.29

Gvakharia will add strength and depth to A&M’s short game. When she arrives in College Station, Gvakharia will replace Liliana Ibañez, current Mexican record-holder in the 50m, 100m, and 200m freestyles, and will join a very strong free/fly group that also includes internationals such as France’s Béryl Gastaldello and Nancy Schuchhardt of Germany.
