The Vermont swimming and diving team hosts America East opponent New Hampshire this Saturday (Oct. 18) at 11 a.m. at Forbush Natatorium. The meet will be streamed live for free via CatamounTV.com.
ABOUT VERMONT
The Catamounts opened the 2014-15 season last Saturday with a dual meet against Wagner. Vermont won eight events at the meet, but was edged by the Seahawks, 161-139. Andie Blaser, Sarah Mantz, Courtney Gray and Christa Weaver combined to swim the 200 free relay in 1:37.50 to set a new Forbush Natatorium pool record. Weaver also collected two individual victories in the 50 (24.15) and 100 (52.72) freestyle events to pace the Catamounts on the afternoon.
Vermont enjoyed one of its most successful seasons in program history last year after registering the most points (640) at the America East Championships in program history and tying for its best-ever finish at the meet with a third-place showing. Weaver and Feierabend led the charge at the championships, as both swimmers collected all-conference honors with top-3 finishes in individual events.
UVM posted a 7-7 overall record in 2013-14, collecting victories over Siena, Maine, CCSU, Merrimack, Bryant and Boston College. The Catamounts also placed first at the six-team Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University.

NEWCOMERS
The Catamounts added 10 newcomers to the squad for this season. Katie Arend (Newfields, New Hampshire), Madeline Blumenfeld (Minneapolis, Minnesota), Denise Costello (Cheshire, Connecticut), Shannon Cowley (Ann Arbor, Michigan), Stefi Geiger (Wayland, Massachusetts), Jess Gorham (Chatham, New Jersey), Kelly Lennon (Methuen, Massachusetts), Alexy Novelli (Burlington, Vermont), Emily Osisek (Vestal, New York) and Brianna Sullivan (Holden, Massachusetts) each enter their rookie year with UVM in 2014-15.
ABOUT NEW HAMPSHIRE
The Wildcats posted an 8-1 record during the 2013-14 campaign, and registered a first-place showing at the America East Championships with an all-time league championship record 877 points. New Hampshire earned back-to-back America East Championships for the third time in its program history and collected its sixth overall conference title. The Wildcats return 11 athletes from last season’s team, including seniors Nicole Anderson, Oneida Cooper, Katie Mann, Megan Suffel, Kathryn Violette and Nicole Zahka. The team also brought in six freshmen to this year’s squad, who have yet to compete in a collegiate meet.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Saturday’s meet between Vermont and New Hampshire will consist of the following events: 200 medley relay, 1000 free, 200 free, 100 back, 100 breast, 200 fly, 50 free, 1-meter diving, 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast, 500 free, 100 fly, 3-meter diving, 200 IM, 400 free relay.
