The media accreditation process is now open for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, where more than 90 U.S. athletes are expected to compete from August 16-28 in Nanjing, China. Accreditation is being processed by the International Olympic Committee with a submission deadline of April 30, 2014. The application can be found here.
Late requests will not be considered for allocation. All non-rights holding broadcasters’ accreditation requests will be processed by Olympic Broadcasting Services.
For media representatives who have successfully applied for accreditation online before April 30, the Youth Olympic Accreditation Card, along with a certified passport or other official travel document, will serve as an entry visa into China. The Nanjing Organizing Committee will send YOACs to all registered media by the end of June. The pre-valid YOAC will act as a valid visa for China for a period of one month prior to and one month following the Nanjing 2014 Games.
About Nanjing 2014
More than 3,600 young athletes, ages 15-18, representing more than 200 National Olympic Committees are expected to compete at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, to be held August 16-28, in Nanjing, China.
Building on the successful experience of the inaugural summer edition of the Youth Olympic Games that took place in Singapore in 2010, the 2014 event will include 28 sports that will be featured at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games – including the debut of golf and rugby sevens. Also on the sport program are 3-on-3 basketball and 5-a-side field hockey, as well as mixed gender and mixed NOC events.
The Nanjing 2014 Games will also feature pioneering demonstration events in four disciplines – sport climbing, skateboarding, roller sports and wushu.
The young participants will also have the opportunity to take part in a unique Culture and Education Program, which will focus on themes ranging from Olympism and the Olympic values, to skill development and healthy living.
