Lauren McIntosh, a senior at Palm Harbor University High School in Palm Harbor, Florida, has made a verbal commitment to swim for Louisiana State University next fall. McIntosh told SwimSwam:

“I chose LSU because from the moment I stepped onto campus to when I came back to Florida, I felt completely at home. The team was more than welcoming and I felt an atmosphere of belonging that rivals what I feel with the team that I’ve swam with for 9 years. In short, I knew that Baton Rouge would be beneficial to not only my swimming and school, but also my mentality. A few swimmers from around where I live went up to swim at LSU (Devin McCaffrey, Taylor Anderson) and I really look forward to joining them. GEAUX TIGERS!”

McIntosh is a four-time top-8 finalist at the FHSAA Class 4A State Meet: she placed fourth in the 50 free and eighth in the 100 free in both her sophomore and junior seasons at Palm Harbor. McIntosh is even stronger in relays than in her individual events. In last fall’s 2014 state meet, she split 23.19 at the end of Palm Harbor’s 200 free relay.

Her best times are:

  SCY LCM
50 free 23.60 27.13
100 free 51.91 59.68
50 fly 26.25 30.03

It took 22.8 and 49.8 to get second swims in the 50 and 100 free at 2015 SEC Championships, which puts McIntosh outside of scoring position for LSU as of now, but she could make her way onto LSU’s sprint relays if she continues to outperform in that setting.

McIntosh joins fellow commits Catherine Lowengrub and Helen Grossman in the Louisiana State University class of 2020.
