Lorelei Gaertner, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, has announced that she has verbally committed to Xavier University. She will be joining the class of 2021 and her sister Caroline Gaertner, a current sophomore, on the team.
“I am so excited to announce my commitment to Xavier University. During my visit, I felt very welcomed by the team and I just knew it would be the right fit for me. I am looking forward to swimming for Coach MacDonald next fall! Go X!”
Gaertner is a senior at Visitation High School in Saint Paul. She placed second in the 100 fly (56.72) and fourth in the 50 free (24.21) at the 2015 MSHSL Girls Class A Swim & Dive Championships last November. She also swam fly (25.19 split) on the Visitation 200 medley relay and led off the 200 free relay (24.18), which set the Class A state record. As a freshman, Gaertner and her sister Caroline were part of the Visitation 400 free relay that set the Minnesota Class A state record as well.
Gaertner swims year-round for Blackline Aquatics. She competed in the 50/100m free and 100m fly at the 2016 USA Swimming Futures Championships in Austin this past summer.

- 50 free – 24.05
- 100 free – 53.66
- 100 fly – 56.72
