LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock swimming and diving head coach Amy Burgess released the team’s 2015-16 schedule on Tuesday, a schedule that includes four meets at the Donaghey Aquatic Center.
The Trojans’ first meet of the season will see Little Rock in the North Texas Relays in Denton, Texas, on Oct. 2 where they’ll face North Texas, Tulane, Houston, SMU and Arkansas.
“We are anxious to travel to some new places and welcome some familiar teams this season,” Burgess said. “Starting off the season strong at the North Texas Relay Invitational will show our young team some good Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana competition.”
Little Rock then comes home to host its first meet of the season when Saint Louis and Henderson State come to town on Oct. 10.
Following their first home meet, the Trojans will travel to Pensacola, Fla., to take on Air Force, Tulane, and West Florida over two days on Oct. 16-17.
“We’re excited to travel to Pensacola for the first time where we’ll check out and compete against West Florida, Tulane, and the Air Force Academy. It will be a good matchup and opportunity to compete against some new competition,” Burgess said.
After a three-week break, Little Rock travels to face its first Missouri Valley Conference opponent of the season at Evansville on Nov. 7.
After nearly a month off, Little Rock will host its annual Christmas Invitational starting on Dec. 3-5. During the holiday season, the Trojans continue their homestand by hosting their third meet of the season when Vanderbilt makes the trip to Little Rock on Dec. 30.
After making its annual training trip to Florida in early January, Little Rock will come home to face MVC foe Southern Illinois, North Texas and Ouachita Baptist in its final home meet of the season on Jan. 16.
“We’re continuing our tradition of competing against some conference rivals, Southern Illinois and Evansville, and we’re eager to give our freshmen a taste of conference competition,” Burgess said.
The Trojans wrap up the year with a trip to Carbondale, Ill., for the MVC Championships from Feb. 17-20.
“With a couple more home competitions this season, we’re looking forward to competing at home and showing off our rising Little Rock swimming and diving team,” Burgess said.
