The King Aquatic Club 11-12 boys broke the 200 medley relay National Age Group Record on Sunday at the KING Thanksgiving Relays swim meet in Federal Way, Washington.

The relay of Tyler Lu(bk), Alex Flores(br), Jake Rinehart(fly), and Ethan Dang(fr) combined for a 1:44.97; that’s a relay that included breaststroke National Age Group Record holder Dang swimming freestyle instead. Splits:

  • Lu, back – 28.73,
  • Flores, breast – 27.80
  • Rinehart, fly – 26.23
  • Dang, free – 22.21

The four are coached by Keith Ure and Tommy Cunningham.

The swim took down the record set earlier this year by the Tualatin Hills foursome of David Liu, Caspar Corbeau, Nathaniel McFaul, and Trenton Martinez, who were a 1:46.05.

Probably because his coach wanted him to….

He swam free because they needed a free swimmer, and his free is also very fast. they had two breast strokers, so they had to put ethan on free.
