Katie Ledecky Swims to 1:56.45 in 200 Free at Woodlands Senior Invite

Katie Ledecky continues to be on a roll at the 2014 Woodlands Swim Team Senior Invite, with a pair of impressive swims on Saturday night at the Conroe ISD Natatorium.

First came a 1:56.45 in the 200 freestyle final, which won the race ahead of second-place Eryn Eddy (2:03.73) and third-place Isabella Rongione (2:05.40), who is a member of the Junior National Team.

The swim for Ledecky is just a hair off of the 1:56.27 that she did at the Mesa Grand Prix earlier this year as a lifetime best, and a tenth away from the 1:56.3 that she did at Worlds last year. Ledecky’s already broken one World Record this weekend, with that coming in the 1500 free on Thursday. She wasn’t on her personal best time in the 400 on Friday (though it was still a world leader), but after this swim on Saturday, the World Record watch is back on for Sunday’s 800 free.

Ledecky followed that swim up with a 4:43.92 in the 400 IM. That’s a lifetime best for her, though it’s the first time that she’s raced it since 2011 when she was just 14 years old and hadn’t yet become the animal we see her as now.

Ledecky has really stepped out of her primary freestyles at this meet and done some good things in other strokes. She’s still only 17 years old, and so there’s some potential for her to develop other races beyond just being the fastest distance swimmer history has ever seen – a gap that continues to grow.

Full meet results are available on Meet Mobile under “TWST Senior Invitational.”

I’ve just thought a little about what Swam wrote above.
55.60?
Are you sure?
Her PB in the 100 free is 55.22 in Mesa.
It would mean she swims almost as fast after 300 meters of IM as when she’s fresh.
It’s funny. 😆

I’m impressed by the 1.56.45 in a training meet and after 2 hard days of racing. She’s on track to swim 1.55 low in August. That’s crazy good for her 400 free.
But I’m even more impressed by her 400 IM!
4.43.92! Wow! Huge PB!
As Swam said above, her freestyle leg has helped her a lot to swim as fast!
You wrote 55.60? 😯
Of course it’s not comparable but she would almost make Ye Shiwen look like a little kid! 😆

Now the 800 free today. 😎
Katie is allowed to be tired after such a meet. 🙂
But we never know.
World record?
Or just the world best time of the year?

Also according to the meet mobile results, Ledecky split 55.60 in 100 free on 400 Medley Relay at the end of he session. Unbelievable – she doesn’t seem to tire.
